About the Study
The Millennium Cohort Family Study is a research project sponsored by the Department of Defense aimed at understanding the impact of military service on spouse and child health, as well as overall family functioning. Notably, the Family Study is the sole DoD-wide, long-term study of military spouses and children, as well as the only DoD-representative study of health and relationship well-being among military families. The findings from the study inform leadership and policy and guide the development of interventions and support programs that positively impact military families
Participants of the Family Study include spouses of service members from the Millennium Cohort Study, as well as single-parent service members. Participation is voluntary. However, participating makes it possible to form a more complete picture of how military life experiences affect the health and well-being of service members and their families. We understand that relationships and families change over time, so we encourage participation even after separation from service or if spouses experience a change in relationship status.
